Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund, Inc. -  (DREDF) Founded in 1979 by people with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities.  A national law and policy center dedicated to protecting and advancing the civil rights of people with disabilities through legislation, litigation, advocacy, technical assistance, and education and training of attorneys, advocates, persons with disabilities, and parents of children with disabilities.

Disabilities/Industrial Complex  - DICOMP (Disabilities/Industrial Complex) is an organization without formal organization. Its membership consists of people with disabilities, companies and individuals who provide products/services, and advocates for accessibility.

Disability Rights Advocates a national and international non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the civil rights of people with disabilities. Though often described as compassionate, legalized medical killing is really about a deadly double standard for people with severe disabilities, including both conditions that are labeled terminal and those that are not.    National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) is a membership organization that advances the independent living philosophy and advocates for the human rights of, and services for, people with disabilities to further their full integration and participation in society.

California Organizations

California Disability Alliance (CDA) -- Advocates for Health works to promote better health care through legislation, by opposing institutionalized care where health care can be provided within the community, and by advocating and alerting the community about changes in health regulations which impact the lives of persons with disabilities. CDA continues to oppose the legalization of assisted suicide and works to improve end-of-life care.

Health Policy

Center for Studying Health System Change (HSC) informs health care decision makers about changes in the health care system at both the local and national levels and the effects of such changes on people.

HSC is a nonpartisan policy research organization located in Washington, D.C. HSC designs and conducts studies focused on the U.S. health care system to inform the thinking and decisions of policy makers in government and private industry. In addition to this applied use, HSC studies contribute more broadly to the body of health care policy research that enables decision makers to understand change and the national and local market forces driving that change.

HSC receives its funding principally from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and is affiliated with Mathematica Policy Research, Inc.

Families USA - The Voice of Health Care Consumers

(last accessed 7/17/04)  A national nonprofit organization, advocates high-quality, affordable health and long term care. Families USA works at the national, state, and grassroots levels with organizations and individuals to help them participate constructively in shaping health care policies in the public and private sectors. We issue reports and analyses, and work extensively through a variety of media, to educate the public, opinion leaders, and policy makers about problems consumers experience in the health care marketplace and what should be done to solve them.
